Boarding Change, Delays Between Harlem (O’Hare branch) and Montrose

How does this affect my trip?
Board/exit all trains on the O’Hare-bound side of the platform at the Jefferson Park station.

Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Harlem (O’Hare branch) and Montrose, resulting in minor delays.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are making signal improvements to allow trains to operate more efficiently along the Blue Line, as part of the Your New Blue modernization program.

 

GREEN, RED LINES

 
Effective 10am, Thu, Jan 10

Renovated Garfield Station Stationhouse, Elevators Reopen

How does this affect my trip?
The Garfield Green Line station’s stationhouse is reopened. The elevators to both platforms are back in service.

The temporary entrance/exit, located approximately 150 feet north of the stationhouse, is closed. The north stairs are temporarily closed, pending their conversion to auxiliary exit stairs.

The renovated station includes these improvements and features:

  • Accessibility improvements, including replacement of two existing elevators with  energy-efficient ones, an adding a new escalator to the 63rd-bound platform
  • New granite flooring, repainted surfaces and updated ceilings
  • New energy-efficient LED lighting
  • New longer, wider platform canopy, covering 8 railcars instead of 6
  • New platform flooring
  • New security cameras
  • New signage
  • New public art in rehabbed stationhouse, platforms and station exterior
  • New dedicated bus drop off areas, with “bump outs” for ease of bus boarding/exiting (south side of street to be completed in spring 2019), and new   bus shelters
  • New under structure lighting and repainted track structure
  • New pavers for more visible crosswalk across Garfield Blvd.
  • New bike racks and new bike lane on Garfield Blvd.
  • Rehabilitation and restoration of the historic 1892-vintage stationhouse, the oldest on the ‘L’, on the south side of Garfield Blvd., to be used as a community space

RED LINE

Boarding Change, Delays Between Cermak-Chinatown and Grand

How does this affect my trip? 
Board/exit all trains on the 95th-bound side of the platform at the Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe, and Lake stations. 

Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Cermak-Chinatown and Grand, resulting in minor delays. 

Allow extra travel time. 

Why is service being changed? 
We are performing track maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Red Line.

 

Jan 17 - 18
11pm Thu to 4am Fri

Boarding Change, Delays Between Grand and Cermak-Chinatown

How does this affect my trip?
Board/exit all trains on the Howard-bound side of the platform at the Lake, Monroe, Jackson, Harrison, and Roosevelt stations.

Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Grand and Cermak-Chinatown, resulting in minor delays.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Red Line.

How does this affect my trip?
The eastbound bus stop located on the southwest corner at 60th/Kenwood  (University of Chicago Keller Center) will be relocated 175 feet west of its current location.

 

#18 16th/18th New Routing

Effective Mon, Jan 14

How does this affect my trip?
Buses in both directions will operate via Ogden between Western and California.

Buses will no longer operate on 16th.

Note: The #18 bus stops on 16th Street at California, Washtenaw, Rockwell, and Western, and on Washtenaw at 15th and at Ogden will be eliminated. Customers can board buses on Western at 16th and 14th, and on Ogden at Western, Rockwell, Washtenaw, and California.

Allow extra time.

Why is service being changed?
Service is being changed due to the permanent closure of the intersection at 16th/Washtenaw to thru traffic.

 

#22 Clark Temporary Reroute

9am, Tue, Jan 8 to 4pm, Fri, Jan 25 or completion

How does this affect my trip?
Southbound buses will operate via Clark, Southport, and Irving Park, then resume their normal route on Clark.

Northbound buses are not affected.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to utility work at Clark/Southport.

 

#55 Garfield Bus Stop Restoration

Effective 6am, Fri, Jan 11

How does this affect my trip?
The westbound bus stop located on the northwest corner at Garfield/Prairie will be restored to mid-block between Calumet and Prairie on the north side of Garfield Blvd, in front of the Garfield Green Line station.

The eastbound bus stop located on the southwest corner at Garfield/Prairie will be restored to mid-block between Prairie and Calumet on the south side of Garfield Blvd, across from the Garfield Green Line station.

Why is service being changed?
The bus stops are being restored due to the completion of sidewalk construction related to the Garfield Gateway Project.

 

#78 Montrose Temporary Reroute

Wed, Jan 16
9am to 4pm or completion

How does this affect my trip?
Eastbound
buses will operate via Montrose, Damen, Lawrence, and Ashland, then resume their normal
route on Montrose.

Westbound buses are not affected.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to a crane lift on Montrose between Wolcott and Honore.
