Monroe Station Temporary Entrance/Exit Stairway Closures

How does this affect my trip?
The Monroe Blue Line subway station’s street-to-mezzanine entrance/exit stairways will temporarily close nightly at the following locations:

  • The northeast stairway between street and mezzanine at the Madison-Monroe entrance
  • The southeast stairway between street and mezzanine at the Madison-Monroe entrance
  • The northwest stairway between street and mezzanine at the Monroe-Adams entrance
  • The northeast stairway between street and mezzanine at the Monroe-Adams entrance
  • The southeast stairway between street and mezzanine at the Monroe-Adams entrance

Note: Not all the stairways will close at the same time. Station access will be available via the remaining stairways when one stairway is closed.

For your safety, only cross streets at crosswalks.

Why is service being changed?
The stairways at the Monroe Blue Line subway station will temporarily close for station maintenance.

How does this affect my trip?
#N5 South Shore (owl) buses will operate in both directions via 67th, Stony Island, 73rd, and Jeffery.

#J14 Jeffery Jump buses will operate in both directions via Lake Shore Drive, 67th, Stony Island, 73rd, and Jeffery.

#15 Jeffery Local buses will operate in both directions via Stony Island, 73rd, and Jeffery.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to Metra construction on Jeffery at 71st.

 

Temporary Reroute
#7 Harrison
#12 Roosevelt
#85 Central


3pm, Tue, May 23 to 7am, Thu, Jun 1 or completion

How does this affect my trip?
#7 Harrison, #12 Roosevelt, 
and #85 Central buses will not enter/depart from the terminal at Central/Harrison.

Westbound #7 buses will operate via Harrison, Lockwood, Flournoy, and Central, then end their trips on the east side of Central at Harrison. Eastbound buses will begin their trips on the east side of Central at Harrison, then resume their normal route on Harrison.

#12 and #85 buses will begin and end their trips on the east side of Central at Harrison.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to construction at the Central/Harrison terminal.

 

#63 63rd Temporary Reroute

May 30 – Jun 5
9am Tue to 3:30pm Mon or completion

How does this affect my trip?
Westbound 
buses will operate via 63rd, Wentworth, 59th, and Stewart, then resume their normal route on 63rd.

Eastbound buses are not affected.

Allow extra time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to construction on 63rd between Yale and Stewart.

 

#63 63rd Service Change

Sat, May 27 until further notice

How does this affect my trip?
#63 63rd 
buses will not enter the Hayes Drive parking lot or the 63rd Street Beach parking lot.

  • Eastbound #63 buses will operate via 63rd, Stony Island, Marquette, Richards, and Hayes, ending their trips at the temporary bus stop located on the south side of Hayes at Lake Shore Drive.
  • Westbound #63 buses will begin their trips on the south side of Hayes at Lake Shore Drive, operate via Lake Shore Drive, Marquette, and Stony Island, then resume their normal route on 64th.

Access to the 63rd Street Beach will be available via the underpass between the Jackson Park Basketball Courts and the 63rd Street Beach House.

For your safety, please wait to board buses on designated sidewalks and only cross streets at crosswalks.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to ongoing Jackson Park construction.
