Ready. Set. Build! Community meetings

The CTA held three community meetings on March 10, 11, and 12, 2026 to provide an opportunity for residents, businesses, and the public to ask project staff questions regarding the upcoming construction activity for the Red Line Extension. Attendees heard project updates, learned about construction plans, and viewed our project maps and boards.

Station plaza design meetings

The CTA held three community meetings on September 17th, 23rd, and 24th, 2025 to give residents on the Far South Side the chance to provide input and be a decision maker for what their Red Line station area will look like, including what features it will have that benefit customers and neighbors. During the interactive sessions with residents throughout RLE communities, CTA asked attendees what they would like their station plaza area to look like. Community members provided insight on features for the exterior of the stations, including landscaping, seating and plaza paving to provide a pleasing and welcoming environment. Public comments were collected from September 8, 2025, to October 12, 2025. The CTA will reveal station plaza designs at our next set of public meetings in 2026.

Meet The Contractor meetings

The CTA held three "Meet the Contractor" community meetings on April 8th, 10th, and 15th, 2025 to discuss the construction schedule for the Red Line Extension tracks and stations. Walsh VINCI, the design-build contractor for the project, and CTA addressed questions and concerns in a live Q&A session.
